The Skin Edit Apothecary was born from a mother's determination to find relief for her daughter.
After years of battling eczema, I grew frustrated with prescription steroids and over-the-counter creams that often left my daughter's skin burning, irritated, and dependent on temporary solutions. I wanted something different—something nourishing, gentle, and rooted in ingredients I could trust. What began as a mission to soothe and heal her skin became the foundation of my first product: our signature whipped body butter.
The results inspired me to keep creating.
From lip butters formulated to deliver the rich hydration and lasting protection I personally love, to seasonal remedies crafted from carefully selected botanicals, every product is developed with intention. I have always been drawn to herbal medicine, traditional remedies, and the remarkable benefits found in nature. Through the infusion of herbs and botanicals such as calendula, rosehips, lavender, blue tansy, vanilla bean, and seasonal plants, I create products designed to comfort, restore, and protect the skin through every season.
Many of these ingredients offer naturally soothing properties that help calm inflammation, comfort sun-exposed skin, relieve bug bites, soften chapped lips, and protect windburned or weather-stressed skin. I also handcraft specialty infusions, including extracts made from raw espresso beans. Rich in caffeine and antioxidants, these formulations help temporarily reduce puffiness, support circulation, and leave skin looking firmer and more refreshed.
As a lifelong equestrian, I eventually found myself applying the same principles of skin restoration to another material I know well: leather.
After years spent caring for horses, tack, boots, and equipment, I realized that leather—much like skin—requires nourishment, protection, and barrier support. That understanding led to the creation of Leather & Oak, a restorative conditioning balm made with many of the same skin-loving ingredients found throughout my apothecary.
Crafted with locally sourced tallow and lard from 8 Hands Farm and exclusively rendered by Fyr & Salt, Leather & Oak was designed to restore and preserve fine leather, wood, and hardworking hands alike. Customers have used it on everything from leather boots, saddles, bridles, and wooden stirrups to butcher blocks, cutting boards, heirloom furniture, and even the wooden stocks of hunting rifles. It has also become a favorite for dry, cracked hands and rough skin, with some customers reporting relief for severely compromised skin conditions.
Today, The Skin Edit Apothecary remains true to its original purpose: creating thoughtful, small-batch products that bridge traditional herbal wisdom with modern skincare knowledge.
Every jar, balm, butter, and remedy is handcrafted with the belief that the best ingredients often come from the land around us. By partnering with local farms and using carefully selected botanicals, I am able to create products that honor both nature and the people who use them.
